    Herbert Walker Wittenberger was a captain in the US Army during World War II. Assigned to B-Company, 1st Batallion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division as a S-2 (Combat Intelligence Officer). Fought his way through the European Theater of Operations starting at Utah Beach on D-Day June 6th 1944.
